Throughout Mrs. Porter's nearly seven-year career working for Greene County Juvenile Office, she has had the opportunity to work alongside hundreds of youths, their families, and school personnel to design success plans for students. The professional experience and skills she has developed facilitating involvement with community resources (e.g. counselors, MMP, treatment facilities, etc.) and coordinating an after-school program, all while managing caseloads and supervising staff, has prepared her to take this next step in her career. She has worked in the recent years as a supervisor over the law status unit which has elevated Mrs. porter to new knowledge and skills to serve at a broader level and more knowledge to resources and services available for families.
Mrs. Porter has a strong passion for this field of work and the community of Walnut Grove and is excited to continue the relationships she has built, develop new community-based relationships, and execute a strategic vision for the future of our students' success. She is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our school and community.
Mrs. Porter shared, "I was born and raised in Walnut Grove, MO and graduated from Walnut Grove High school in 2011. I majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Family Studies at College of the Ozarks and graduated in 2015. I then went on to attain a Certificate in Contemporary Theory in Mental Health Services from Capella in 2023. I am currently working towards completing my Masters in School Counseling. I am thrilled to serve the youth and families of Walnut Grove in my role as School Counselor and to help students form healthy goals, mindsets and behaviors as well as help them with their transition into life after high school. I have a strong passion for empowering youth and for the community of Walnut Grove and I believe the work that comes from our schools is integral in equipping youth and families, and developing our community. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to that growth and success in this position!"
